25 hours in...St Anton - Austria

St Anton in Austria is a resort for those who love to ski or snowboard.

Situated an hour from Innsbruck airport, the resort is hassle free to get to and a delightful drive through the snowy mountains.

There is mountain after mountain of freshly listed slopes as well as a huge array of off piste skiing to keep you thoroughly entertained.

If you aren’t a skier then this is not the ideal place for you. There isn’t much for someone to do in the village if they don’t want to go up the hill.

If you don’t have breakfast included in your accommodation then head straight to Pete’s for some deliciously put together feasts to line your stomach before the day ahead.

You will most likely be lunching up the hill and in St Anton, many of the restaurants are huge self-catering canteens. They are still incredibly luxurious, however, if you crave the cosier, more personal touch then head over the hill to St Christoph to have lunch in the Hospiz Alm. Waiters in Lederhosen, rustic wooden table, a roaring log fire and a ceramic slide to get you down to the bathrooms. I’ll leave it at that.

Where to even start with aprés-ski… There are so many options and Austria is well known for having some of the wildest aprés-ski bars in the Alps. From Senn-Hutte which you reach first on the last run of the day to Heustadl, Mooserwirt and Krazy Kangaruh, there are plenty of options for you to choose from. situated about 500 metres above St Anton, you can ski down from these bars but be careful!!! It is mostly dark by the time you leave…on wobbly skis…

Plenty of places in the village to choose from and I could highly recommend several. Make sure you visit a typical Austrian restaurant and sample some traditional dishes.

To list a couple: Galzig Bistro Bar, Pomodoro and Aquila are up there in the must visit category!

Goes without saying…Bobos or Bar Cuba!

I may be biased, but I stayed at the Hotel Montana and could not recommend it highly enough. You are situated on the main street, in the hustle and bustle of the bars and restaurants and a 5 minute walk (if that) to the Galziig Bahn and Gampen Bahn (the two main lifts up the hill.

Without a doubt, St Anton comes very highly recommended by the LEadership styled team. Happy skiing!
